Weight Loss Programs – Why
They Fail…
by Todd Scott, ISSA-CPT

How many
times have you or someone you know jumped on the latest
weight loss
programs bandwagon?
Chances are, at least a few. And chances are, since you’re
reading this, it didn’t exactly stick.
Most weight loss programs are flawed. Most weight loss programs
can help you lose weight but aren’t designed for long lasting
effects.
Here are 5 reasons weight loss programs fail.
-
They make big
promises – Companies promote their programs with big
promises that are nearly impossible to achieve. Lose 10
pounds in 2 days? Yeah right. Guess what happens when you
buy the product or start the program and don’t lose 10
pounds in 3 days? You quit, and you blame yourself when it’s
not your fault at all. It’s the program, it’s flawed &
designed to fail.
-
They don’t take
exercise into consideration – Most weight loss programs put
all the emphasis on the calories you consume, and very
little on the amount of exercise. The fact is, if you
exercise and at the very least maintain your current levels
of lean mass, you’ll burn more calories day in and day out.
-
They are based on
calorie deprivation – Guess what? You can lose weight on a
100% carbohydrate diet. You can lose weight on a 100%
protein Diet. You can lose weight eating nothing but Debbie
Cakes. If your weight loss program severely restricts your
food consumption, you’re GUARANTEED to lose weight no matter
what you eat. But the bad thing about it is that it’s not
designed to support your metabolism. So when you stop the
program, you’ll gain the weight back plus some in a very
short time period.
-
Weight Loss
Programs care too much about the “Scale”. Yeah, it’s great
if you can lose 30 pounds in 2 months. But if the main
concern of the program you’re following is how much you
weigh, then beware. The human body can shed “pounds” very
rapidly, but it may not always be the type of weight you
want because it can….
-
Make you a skinny
fat person. Have you ever seen a person that looks good in
clothes, but once they take their shirt off, there’s nothing
but loose sagging skin? They may “look” skinny with clothes
on, but as soon as the clothes come off, the truth is
revealed: They’re a skinny fat person. Going on severely
restricted diets, only concerning yourself with the scale,
and not exercising is one way to lose weight, but it also
increases your chances of becoming “skinny fat”
